āIntentionally align your digital presence: optimize your websiteā
Hi friend,
Itās my last week in Virginia, so itās been STACKED with seeing friends, all my cousins, and family mixed with work and all the things. Iāll have to share more about that later⦠because this week, Iām excited to introduce you to long-time friend and client, Sara of Stargazed Studio! š
![]() Headshot of Sara of Stargazed Studio | Sara and I virtually met in 2019. Weāve worked together on my websites, her brand strategy, and have even had some fun pop-up collaborations together! We have also had the chance to meet in person in Spain! This week, Iām handing over the Sunday Reset āļø newsletter to her so she can share tips to intentionally optimize your website. Iāll let her take it from here (: |
My name is Sara, and I am excited that I get to share a lesson around one of my favorite topics: how to optimize your website.
I am the owner of Stargazed Studio, a design studio where we specialize in WordPress web design for health and wellness businesses, and where we created resources for small business owners in general to learn how to start and grow their online presence.
Iāve been working with websites for over 20 years: fun fact, my first website was a Dragon Ball fanpage in the early 2000s! Websites have changed A LOT since then, but donāt worry, my methods have evolved along as well. So what I bring for you today is very relevant to our times.
Websites are important parts of our brand and its online presence, and they are one of those things that make our business seem more legit. But itās supposed to be much more than a legitimacy tokenāwith the right strategy and organization, websites are marketing tools that help you achieve your business goals.
Regardless of your website platform or what stage of your business you are in, there are things you can do to optimizeāor improve with your goals and audience in mindāyour website so that it aligns better with your goals. And today I have 5 five tasks that you can implement quickly to see those improvements!
ā Setting Goals ā
But before we jump into optimizing, I want to make sure we are all on the same page: for your website to be efficient at what it does, you need to have specific goals for your website! Make sure that you know what your websiteās main goal is before you start implementing these action tasks, because you canāt optimize without a goal in mind.
You can use these questions to guide you in finding the main goal for your website:
What is your website supporting? Is it directly connected to your brand?
What is the main goal of your brand, and is your website aligned with it?
How do you feel about your website? Do you like your website? If you don't, what is it that you don't like?
Is your website's focus currently on aesthetic, or functionality? Is it balanced? What would it need to be more balanced?
Do you think your brand actually needs a website? Why or why not?
If someone visiting your website could only take one action there, what would you like that action to be?
What is your main priority as a brand right now? How can your website support that main priority?
Take the time to establish that goal first, and with that in mind, you are ready to start optimizing your website!
ā Action Steps ā
Ready to take action on your website? There are endless edits you can do, but today weāll focus on 5 actions that are fast and that can be implemented into a website on any platform.
Action #1 - Clarify your headlines
With your goal in mind, go to your website and make sure that the main headline is telling people who you help, and how you help them. It should be the first thing people see. Let there be no space left for confusion. Itās also good for SEO to have those keywords in your main headline!
Action #2 - Make your CTA obvious
Have one Call to Action (CTA) above the fold as well, and have it be aligned to your main goal.
The above-the-fold area is the first section of your website, what is first visible when someone loads your homepage. That section is very important because itās the first impression people will have of your website, and thatās why we put important things we want our visitors to see right there!
Action #3 - Test for mobile
Chances are that your website is often being accessed through mobile devices, so make sure things work well there! These are some common issues Iāve seen on mobile websites that could be distracting from your main goal:
Odd spacing between elements ā too much or too little.
Menu links not working properly
Links not big enough for thumbs to click on them
Oversized Images that make the website move sideways
Having to scroll too long to find important information
Action #4 - Remove one thing
Less is more is something that often applies to websites as well. So, in order to keep people focused on your main goal, letās remove distractions. Letās commit to removing at least one thing! It could be something like:
Old announcements
Unnecessary menu links
Long paragraphs that are hard to read
Use mobile to see what looks like a lot of clutter
Action #5 - Add a real photo or testimonial
People want to be able to trust whoever they do business with, so itās good to show that there are real people behind a business.
You can either add a photo of you or your team, so they can see who the person behind the business is.
Or you can showcase real clients, so visitors can connect and see themselves as one of your clients when they learn about their experiences working with you.
One of my clients is a collective, and they work out of a building, so they showcase images from their building. Or if you sell a product, showcase images of you or your team with the product. It makes a big difference to see someone real interacting with it.

š PREPARING FOR THE WEEK AHEAD
āļø FLYING BACK TO SPAIN By the time youāre reading this, Iāll be on a plane and heading back to Spain! To make the transition from the USA to Spain much easier, especially with jet lag, Iāve prepped a to-do list for low-lift chores to take care of when I land (ie: laundry!) and my schedule for the week ahead of time, so I donāt need to stress. Also, Iām giving myself A LOT OF compassion and grace if I just move slower next week. |
š» GOODIES YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED
Iām a big believer that everyone should have a website, and your Instagram or TikTok profile just doesnāt cut it if you want to build an online presence.
Everything I share in this video is based on my own experience working in the online business space for the last 7 years and creating content for 13+ years. I am NOT an expert website designer, but I do know how to write great website copy š
I hope this video helps you to build your own website, especially if youāre growing your personal brand! - so I found a checklist and system that works for me to keep everything organized.
